If you saw Mama Mia you will know how idyllic it all looks, cute islands with chapels on the peaks, constant sunshine, Pierce Bronsen singing ?(dot dot dot that's how they did it in the olden days apparently). Well we were tempted.
Richard organised the boat, a 42 foot Bavaria and volunteered to skipper and sleep in the smallest cabin. We 6, almost all motor boaters, were very excited. After a couple of days in Athens soaking up the history, we headed off to Kalamaki marina. We were part of a four boat/25 person flotilla.
Day one

Took 6 hours to sail to Poros.
Good sail with some wellie dipping on route. Met with rest of flotilla for dinner in a harbour side restaurant.
Fabulous sunset - unique hills look like a
woman lying down
Day 2
Mental note to self dont be tempted by the free ouzo! Heavy head, especially when the pneumatic drill started at 07:00.
After a swim stop in Frog Island (fresh but lovely) we headed to Ermioni.
Day 3
After short lay in headed towards Portoheli. Enroute stopped for a swim.
At the port had to move berth as ferry wanted the space no contest. Co-skipper John did great job of getting us in.
In the evening had a BBQ on the pontoon with rest of group. Another boozy night!

Helped off load a huge catch of tuna, in return we were given a couple.
Day 4
Sailed to Hydra what a lovely island. No transport, only horse power here were donkeys & mules.
Raced with the American crew. Unfortunately we lost.

Decided to stay another day as so picturesque. Besides skipper under the weather. Local pollon not booze this time!
Ate on board enjoyed the fresh tuna.

Day 5
Stayed still to soak up the atmosphere. Swam off the cliff edge, and then recovered in a small bar over the water.

Had an excellent evening meal in restaurant while watching another spectacular sunset.
Day 6
Early start to sail back to Kalamaki.
Saw our first and only dolphin unfortunately it appeared to be injured so it did not want to play!
Stopped for our final swim stop in a bay north of Aigina.
When we got back the owner was there (along with a diver) to check the boat over. All was in order of course.
Day 7
Headed for home after a final meal on the beach at Kalamaki. Of course the BMBHA flag was flying with us!

A smashing way to spend a holiday Not sure we have enough time left in our lives to convert to sail, but can now appreciate the attraction.
